Reef

I was sailing through the multiverse

and I came upon a charming little world

where I thought it might be fun

to do a bit of play.

The city I spied was called Reef

because little flashes of color

flitted through it like fish.

It was a rainbow of concrete,

built up on top of itself

over thousands of years.

It had zeppelins and hovercars

and sky-cable trolleys

and glass storefronts selling neon merchandise.

There were caves underneath

with subterranean rivers and lakes,

dark academies build in depending spires;

criminal boatmen plying those silent waters,

and candle-lit enclaves of rebels;

for this society was devoutly fascist,

in love with its own abuse.
